At Armstrong Moving, we are dedicated to promoting sustainability and minimizing our environmental impact within the moving industry. Our commitment to environmental responsibility extends to the services we provide, the resources we utilize, and the communities we serve. We strive to be a leader in sustainability practices and aim to inspire positive change in the sector.

Sustainability and the Community

At Armstrong Moving, we value the sustainability of the communities we support and currently, we are actively engaged with the following organizations:

1. Move for Hunger (moveforhunger.org)

An organization created by movers, a perfect fit for the moving industry
Collecting unopened, non-perishable food from moving companies and their customers to donate to the local food bank(s)
In an effort to reduce food waste members of Move for Hunger use the network of resources to help feed the community
Our drivers and staff are enthusiastically participating

2. Tree Canada (treecanada.ca)

25 years of continuous sponsorship
Armstrong Moving is part of the Tree Canada Family under the National Greening Program where trees are planted on behalf of our customers
Planting Trees contributes towards offsetting the moving industries carbon footprint

3. Talent Beyond Boundaries (talentbeyondboundaries.org)

An organization that connects refugees with job opportunities globally
They work to create policy changes that lead to more inclusive resettlement programs
By matching refugees with job opportunities TBB helps rebuild their lives and contribute to their new communities as well as have them realize their full potential

Armstrong Moving continuously evaluates new community and charity organizations and events to expand our reach and support for further contributions.

Sustainability Policy

At Armstrong Moving, our sustainability policy consists of the following key points:

1. Sustainable Packing Materials:

Encourage the use of eco-friendly packing materials such as recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable options for customers.
Offer guidance on sustainable packing practices to reduce waste generation and promote responsible disposal of packing materials.

2. Energy Efficiency:

Optimize our fleet and logistics operations to minimize fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Invest in energy-efficient technologies and equipment to reduce energy usage in storage facilities and offices.
Promote the use of energy-efficient packing and moving supplies to our customers.

3. Waste Reduction and Recycling:

Implement waste reduction measures in our facilities and operations to minimize landfill waste.
Encourage customers to recycle unwanted items during the moving process and provide information on local recycling options.
Partner with recycling organizations and charities to donate or repurpose unwanted items whenever possible.

4. Green Partnerships:

Collaborate with suppliers and business partners who share our commitment to sustainability, promoting the use of eco-friendly products and services throughout the supply chain.
Seek partnerships with environmentally conscious organizations to jointly advocate for sustainable practices within the moving and storage industry.

EcoVadis

EcoVadis is a sustainability rating tool that assesses private and public companies on social, ethical, and environmental impacts. It provides a system for organizations to evaluate their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) levels.

The EcoVadis rating tracks four major categories including:

Environment
Labor & Human Rights
Ethics
Sustainable Procurement

The objective of the EcoVadis rating methodology is to measure the quality of a company’s sustainability management system through its policies, actions and results.
